1 Kingdom Chapel Bylaws

 

Preamble

In order that the witness of this assembly may be born and carried out in accordance with Scriptural doctrines; that its worship, teachings, ministry, and fellowship may be conducted in harmony with Christian principles; and that its business affairs may be administered in an orderly fashion and in a responsible manner consistent with Biblical teachings, we do adopt and set forth these bylaws.

 

Article I — Name

This organization shall be known as 1 Kingdom Chapel, Anthem, Arizona.

 

Article II — Purpose

The purpose of this assembly is to help fulfill the Great Commission and to influence people to grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ; through discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, verse by verse teaching, and applying the Golden Rule treating others as we would like to be treated ourselves.

To support this, 1 Kingdom Chapel will:

Provide worship and verse upon verse teaching services that celebrate the Lordship of Jesus Christ, teach the Word boldly and without reservation, and to encourage the believers towards Godly living.

Promote participation in accountability programs, Bible discussions, evangelism, home fellowships, and Christ-centered fellowship functions.

Encourage individual and family development as fundamental requirements for Christian living.

Provide opportunities to show Christ's love by being others-centered and by taking action to serve others in community outreach functions.

Article III — Statement Of Faith

We Believe:

1 Kingdom Chapel Statement of Faith

• There is only one God, and that He is eternally existent in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

• God the Father is the Creator of the universe. He created man in His own image for fellowship, and called man back to Himself through Christ after the rebellion and fall of man.

• Jesus Christ is eternally God. He was together with the Father and the Holy Spirit from the beginning, and through Him all things were made. He left Heaven and became incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary; layed aside the fullness of His Godhood Phil 2:6-8 and lived a sinless life while on the land.

• The Holy Spirit is God, the Lord, and giver of life, who was active in the Old Testament, and given to the believers in fullness at Pentecost. He empowers the saints for service and witness, cleanses man from the old nature, and conforms us to the image of Christ.

• The baptism in the Holy Spirit releases the fullness of the Spirit, and is evidenced by the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit both. We believe the Holy Spirit never contradicts or supersedes God's Word.

• In taking the time texts in the Bible literally. Three days means three days, quickly means quickly, shortly means shortly, forty years means forty years. When Jesus spoke in Matt 24:34 ..."that all these things would come upon this generation" ...that is what He meant.

• In the Bible containing the Old and New Testament is alone the only infallible, inspired Word of God, and that its authority is ultimate, final, and eternal. It cannot be added to, subtracted from, or superseded in any regard. The Bible is the source of all doctrine, instruction, correction, and reproof. It contains all that is needed for guidance in godliness and practical Christian conduct.

• Christ's vicarious death on the cross paid the penalty for the sins of the repentant. He drew all judgment to Himself. 

• That salvation is a free gift of God, based on the merits of the death of His Son, and is appropriated by faith. Salvation is affected by personal repentance, belief in the Lord Jesus, and personal acceptance of Him into one's life as both Lord and Savior.

• The Christian life is to be one of consecration, devotion, and holiness. The shortcomings of the individual are because of the still progressing sanctification of believers. The Christian life is filled with trials, tests, and warfare against the flesh, the world & the Devil. 

• The believers form the Body of Christ, the habitation of God among the saints through the Spirit. Every believer born of the Spirit has a place in God's Kingdom. A place where Christ is working in the lives of the called out ones and calling all to help fulfill The Great Commission to go into all the world and make disciples of every nation.

• In the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is the outward sign of what God has already done in the individual's life and is a public testimony that the person now belongs to Christ. It is identifying with the death and resurrection of Jesus and is done in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Lord's Supper is a commemoration of the willing death of the Lamb of God.

We reject the following doctrines:

​

​​The Church Age (no such thing)

Eternal conscious punishment of unbelievers in Hell 

(Jesus has already destroyed Gehenna / Hades)

Limiting Christ to only two comings (there are many)

The Millennium Kingdom (no such thing)

The Teleporting Rapture (no such thing)

That we are currently living in the end times 

(the end times of the Mosaic Covenant AD 30-70 are in the past) 

 

VI. Eschatology

We embrace the doctrinal position known as Preterism. This teaches that the time texts of the Bible are to be taken literally and that the Coming of Christ occurred in AD 70 and was a judgment and removal of the Old Covenant system (Old Heaven and Old Earth), and it established fully the Kingdom, the New Covenant system (New Heaven and New Earth) (Matthew 16:27-28Matthew 24:34II Corinthians 3:6-11Galatians 4:21-31). Although the judgement coming of Christ (parousia) took place in AD 70 we  further believe in the many comings of Christ Matt 18:2-3, John 14:21, Rev 1:12-13.

 

 

Article V — Government

The government of this assembly is under the Lordship of Christ and the leadership of the Holy Spirit, as exercised through a Board of Elders comprised of those who the Lord has equipped to serve as Elders. In 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9, the Lord provides requirements for the appointment of Elders. The Pastor is the lead Elder (not a hireling) and he has the authority to nominate staff and then the Elders may approve. One must serve at 1 Kingdom Chapel for 1 full year before being considered to be an Elder. Ideally, the total number of Kingdom Chapel Elders is five. In the multitude of counselors there is wisdom Proverbs 15:22.

Article V — Membership

Membership in Kingdom Chapel shall be the means whereby an individual confesses his faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, commits himself to the covenantal commitments, agrees to articles 1-9, and entrusts himself to its spiritual care and counsel of the assembly.

Article VI — Covenantal Commitment

Section A — Introduction

The revelation of our God, as demonstrated by His love for us at Calvary, requires a response on our part. A part of this response in the Scriptures was often exemplified in the making of a covenant between one another. For this reason we have included a covenantal commitment for this local body of believers who serve as our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Through this commitment we acknowledge our desire to grow in obedience to God. We are concerned for both the physical and spiritual wellbeing of each other and are to encourage one another to serve Christ.

Section B — The Covenantal Commitment

Where we are placed in the assembly for service is a matter of God's sovereign leading in the believer's life, and is to be confirmed in the local setting. The Scripture states that God places members in the body as it pleases Him (II Corinthians 12:18). God places us in local fellowship with His people so that we can live in covenant together, grow together, and support one another in the body of Christ. Privilege, responsibility, and accountability should be practiced and lived out in the local assembly. Because of this understanding, we practice the following covenantal commitment:

Members covenant with Kingdom Chapel to:

  • Faithfully attend its services.

  • Be aware of  functions — locally, nationally, and internationally — to support them in prayer.

  • Share their Christian testimony by actions and words on a person-to-person basis.

  • Support its work by giving of their time & talent.  

  • Strongly emphasize and encourage personal and family devotions.

  • Walk in Christian harmony and watchfulness, giving and receiving assistance with affection.

  • Pray for one another.

  • Rejoice in the blessings and victories of each other.

  • Help each other in sickness, sorrow, distress, trials, and tribulations.

  • Walk together in Christian love, strive for the advancement of this assembly, and sustain its worship, discipline, and doctrine.

Kingdom Chapel covenants with its members to:

  • Minister to their spiritual needs, especially through the teaching of the Word.

  • Assist them with Godly counsel, encouragement, and support.

  • Provide them with opportunities for Christian fellowship.

  • Provide counsel on spiritual issues, Biblical education, family matters, and Godly living.

  • Sustain them by the prayers and concern of Elders and fellow believers in any adverse circumstances of life.

  • Serve as faithful stewards of all assets, time, and materials given for the ministry.

Being mindful of our own weaknesses and insufficiency, and knowing that of ourselves we can do nothing, we humbly implore and rely on God's help in our endeavor to fulfill this covenant.

Article VII — Amendments

All changes shall be guided by a desire to reflect Biblical attitudes and principles, and improve an existing deficiency.

These bylaws may be amended at a regularly scheduled quarterly Elder Board meeting provided:

  • That notice of the proposed amendment, written in full, has been mailed or otherwise provided and received individually to all Elders, at least two weeks prior to the meeting to allow study or other preparation to be conducted prior to the issue being discussed or voted on.

  • That the Board of Elders is fully present, and by unanimous decision, endorses the proposal.

 

Article VIII — Finances

  • We believe the Tithe was rendered obsolete by AD 70. 

Don't think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn't come to destroy, but to fulfill.  Matt 5:17. If the Old Covenant Tithe is in effect during the New Covenant then the entire Old Covenant Law is also in effect. We believe there are three principles of New Covenant giving: Cheerfully, Freely,  and Secretly. But when you give, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Matt 6:3

Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give; not as a grudging obligation, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Coro 9:7. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothes comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine and say, You sit here in a good place, while you say to the poor man, You stand over there, or sit down at my feet, have you not become judges with evil thoughts? James 2:2-4 As such we do not pass an offering plate, etc...

  • Kingdom Chapel is organized exclusively for charitable, educational and religious purposes.

The term for which this organization is to exist is perpetual, except that upon dissolution of Kingdom Chapel, the Board of Elders shall:

  • Pay or make provisions for the payment of all the liabilities of Kingdom Chapel.

  • Dispose of all the assets in such a manner as deemed appropriate by the Board of Elders.

 

Article IX - Sunday Morning

  • Sunday morning meeting will start on time at 10:00 am. We will worship for about 30 minutes, have an open time for about 20 minutes (1 Corinthians 14:26), have about a  20 minute teaching, and about a five minute close with announcements, communion and a closing worship song.

Article X — The Tongue

  • So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against leave your gift before the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother, then come and offer your gift. Matt 5:24

  • If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. Matt 18:15

  • Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. James 4:11
